Do I need a referral to see a Psychologist?

No, you don’t need a referral to see a psychologist. Just call, email, or book an appointment.

Are sessions covered by Medicare or private health insurance?

Many people will be eligible for a medicare rebate contributing towards up to 10 sessions of individual psychology per calendar year. This has been extended to 20 sessions per year because of the global pandemic conditions. Eligibility for this program is assessed by your General Practitioner.

Some Private Health Insurance policies include Psychological services, please check with your insurer regarding your policy.

Is there a fee if I have to cancel my appointment?

Cancellations within 24-hours of the appointment will incur a charge of 50% of the service fee.

How many sessions will I need?

This really depends on you. I generally recommend beginning with a six session program over an 8-12 week period however, each client’s requirements are assessed individually during the initial phone consultation.

Do you have after-hours or weekend appointments?

Yes. I regularly see clients after-hours and on Saturdays. These appointments can be in the office or via Telehealth. If a suitable time slot is not available on the booking form, please contact me and we will find a time that works for both of us.

Do you take clients from outside of Melbourne and Australia?

Yes. Telehealth consults are available for regional, interstate, and international clients.

How do I know if someone is qualified and competent?

If you are experiencing a mental health issue, then it is critical you see someone who is qualified to help treat it. The easiest way to check this is by making sure that the practitioner you use is registered with the the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Competence, in the context of psychology, refers to the psychologist’s ability to effectively treat the presenting issue. We all have different competencies, and so I recommend specifically asking your psychologist if they have the required experience to treat the presenting issues you are experiencing.

Rest assured, if I do not feel like I am the right practitioner to best treat your presenting issues, I will let you know immediately and am committed to helping you find the right practitioner.
