      <image:title>Meet Andrew - Dr. Andrew Waterson</image:title>
      <image:caption>Andrew is a registered psychologist based in Melbourne, Australia who specialises in high-prevalence mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. He has particular focus on how these conditions affect high-performance athletes, and has a special interest and experience in working with clients suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Starting out as a youth drug and alcohol psychologist in Dandenong, Victoria back in 2008, Andrew then moved into providing psychology services in the tertiary education system. Andrew completed his Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2014, focusing on working with golfers, and has worked in the elite and professional performance sector since. Andrew’s experience as a psychologist encompasses clients from a wide variety of cultures, backgrounds, and all walks of life. His knowledge and experience in performance psychology took him to New Zealand to work with the National Rowing program, Canoe Racing program and the Snow Sports New Zealand program: out of all the offices he’s worked in, the ski lifts in Wanaka are still his all-time favourite spot. In 2018, Andrew moved home to work with the Melbourne Football Club where he spent four seasons and helped support the team to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the AFL Premiership in 2021. Andrew then moved to Hawthorn Football Club, and now works with the Melbourne Rebels as their Performance Consultant and the Western Bulldogs Football Club as Club Psychologist. To Andrew, welfare and performance come hand-in-hand: when you know what is important to you, and you have good people around you, you can build the capacity to live with courage and commitment, and perform at your best. It is about learning to stick to a process, to train with full commitment, and to build the courage to take risks and execute. I work with a wide variety of elite and professional performers. I have helped mentally prepare medal winning athletes for the Olympics games, Winter Olympics, Paralympics, and many other competitions. I currently work at the Western Bulldogs Football Club as the Club Psychologist. Performance work isn’t restricted to athletes; I also work with a number of actors, performers, musicians, businesses, and students. You don’t need to be a professional to get the most out your mental game: Performance Psychology can help emerging athletes and performers across all levels to gain a performance edge on the competition.</image:caption>

All issues are treated without judgement and with care. My personal philosophy as a psychologist is to focus on helping clients make sustainable changes that allow them to live a more fulfilling life. I use evidence based theories as the foundation of my work, and I am qualified and experienced in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Based Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Based Psychology.</image:caption>
